For my final project, I decided to look at the percentage of causes of stress in the U.S. The reason I chose this topic is because it requires a lot of math and statistical work to find these percentages. The amount of people in the U.S. that feel stressed at all times is approximately 5.6% in 2009, since then, being stressed has skyrocketed, today 18% of females and 10% of females feel stressed at all times. Regarding to work or personal life or even both.
Being that's just adults, teens going through high school have some of the highest stress rates out of everybody in the U.S., some believe that ages 12-17 are the most stressful years of a person's life because of the amount of responsibility they are bestowed all at once.
Honestly, High School just gets more and more stressful because of the way that classes just get harder and harder. You're required to keep track of so much. If you're doing extra-curricular activities, forget about trying to not get stressed, you're going to most likely have to keep up in a bunch of classes that are probably homework based, which for some reason is the social norm for classes anymore.
To fix this problem, I honestly think that a personal study period should be offered to all students. or maybe an extended lunch period to do work. Decreasing homework load would most likely help the stress levels throughout the US in general because students wouldn't have to worry about wasting their relaxation time by doing homework.
I chose this topic, not only for the math properties it displays in graph form but as well as the simple fact that I personally think that stress levels are too high for high school students, as well as adults. For adults, work will always be busy and stressful but companies should work at not making them so hard to keep up with.Same goes to students, who have hours of extracurricular activities on top of hours of homework. The amount of students I know personally that have anxiety disorders that are caused by overwhelming stress is unbelievable and I think that there should be more being done about it.
